Please note that a scholarship application in addition to required accompanying documents must be submitted in order for your application to be complete.  The deadline for all applications is Fri., April 11th, 2026. The scholarships for 2026 are listed below.

Directions

Step 1:  This year applicants will only need to complete the Scholarship Application Form ONCE by April 10, 2026 at the link provided: https://form.jotform.com/240286994859073

Step 2:  Review the specific scholarship requirements below and submit the required documents to scholarships@ebenezerame.org by APRIL 10, 2026.  In the SUBJECT LINE of the email write the name of the scholarship you are submitting the documents for (one email for each scholarship with supporting documentation you are submitting).  An email confirmation will be sent once all documents have been received.  If you do not receive a confirmation email, we do not have your documentation.

Andrew E. Edwards Community Service Scholarship

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS – To be eligible for this scholarship you must:

  1. Volunteer at one (1) verifiable community organization.
  2. Have a total cumulative of 2.75 or better.
  3. Be eligible for graduation in the Spring of 2026 and plan to further your education as a full-time student in the Fall of 2026 at an accredited college/university or technical school or be a returning college student.
  4. Submit an official Letter of Acceptance or proof of your enrollment for the Fall of 2026 semester at an accredited college/university or technical school.
  5. Submit one 500 word essay (single spaced in Times New Roman 12 font) on the topic: “Community Service-How One Person Can Make a Difference.”
  6. Provide one (1) letter of recommendation from a non-family member, coach, teacher, guidance counselor, or mentor dated 2026.
  7. Submit a copy of your unofficial high school transcript or college transcript. High School Students – The transcript must include grades from the 9th-11th grade school years and include the cumulative grade point average. Undergraduate Students please submit an unofficial college transcript.

Bishop Benjamin T. Tanner Scholarship Application

FIRST YEAR COLLEGE STUDENTS

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS – To be eligible for this scholarship you must:

  1. Be a recorded member of Ebenezer A.M.E. Church as of June 25, 2025.
  2. Be eligible for graduation in the Spring of 2026 and plan to further your education in the Fall of 2025 at a college or trade school.
  3. Submit two 250-word essays: one on “The Life and Accomplishments of Bishop Benjamin T. Tanner” and one of the following topics:
    1. “Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding.”
    2. “In all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight.”
  4. Submit an official Letter of Acceptance or proof of your enrollment for the Fall 2026 semester at a college or trade school.

Bishop Benjamin T. Tanner Returning Student Scholarship Application

UNDERGRADUATE STUDENTS ONLY

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS – To be eligible for this scholarship you must:

  1. Be a recorded member of Ebenezer A.M.E. Church as of June 25, 2025.
  2. Submit a copy of your unofficial college transcript for the current academic year.
  3. Submit a 300-word essay on one of the following topics:
  4. Describe a season in your life when your faith helped you overcome an academic, financial, or personal challenge.
  5. Share how you have lived out your faith through service, leadership, or personal growth since beginning your college journey. Explain how this scholarship would support your continued academic success and help you fulfill God’s purpose for your life.

Bishop Richard Allen Scholarship Application

FIRST YEAR COLLEGE STUDENTS

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS – To be eligible for this scholarship you must:

    1. Be a graduating senior from Crossland, Friendly, Gwynn Park, Oxon Hill, Suitland or Surrattsville High School.
    2. Attach a copy of your Letter of Acceptance from the college or university that you will be attending for Fall 2026.
    3. Attach a copy of your unofficial high school transcript from SchoolMax.
    4. Submit two 200-word essays: one on “The Life and Accomplishments of Richard Allen” and one on any of the following topics:
      1. What Biblical individual influenced your life and why?
      2. “His Grace is sufficient”
      3. “How God changed my life”

Kory Alexander Coates Scholarship

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS – To be eligible for this scholarship you must:

  1. Be a high school senior who is a member of Ebenezer AME Church, Fort Washington, MD.
  2. Be seeking an undergraduate degree or certificate at an accredited college or trade school.
  3. Have a cumulative GPA of 3.75 or higher.
  4. Provide a copy of an official college/university or trade school acceptance letter.
  5. Submit an essay (between 250 and 500 words) to answer the following question:
  6. Write an essay to describe a time in your life where you faced a challenge that you felt was insurmountable. How did you overcome this challenge?

Isaac Gourdine Scholarship

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS – To be eligible for this scholarship you must:

  1. Be a recorded member of Ebenezer A.M.E. Church as of June 25, 2025.
  2. Be eligible to further your education in the Fall of 2026 at a college or university as an undergraduate student.
  3. Be a participant in more than one specified Ebenezer A.M.E. Church ministry or activity and currently an active member of at least one community organization.
  4. Submit one 250-word essay on the following topic:
  5. Community Service: “One person can make a difference”
  6. Submit an official Letter of Acceptance or proof of your enrollment for the Fall 2026 semester at a college or university.

Jewels Ministry Scholarship

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS – To be eligible for this scholarship you must:

  1. Be a recorded member of Ebenezer A.M.E. Church as of May 3, 2025.
  2. Submit a typed 250 word essay on the following topic, “How will the scholarship help further my educational objectives?”
  3. Be an adult student 35 or older. Scholarship support may also be considered for Job Skills Training and Personal Enrichment.  (attach proof of age, i.e. driver’s license)
  4. Submit an official notification of acceptance or proof of your enrollment for the Fall 2026 semester at a college, trade school or community college.

Harry L. Jackson, Jr. Memorial Scholarship Awarded by the King’s Men Choir

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS – To be eligible for this scholarship you must:

  1. Be a minority male between the ages of 16-24 years old.
  2. Be a resident of Washington DC, Southern Maryland or Northern Virginia.
  3. Begin attendance in a college or trade school by the Fall of 2026.
  4. Submit a 200 to 300 word essay on the topic “The Responsibilities of a Christian Man and Good Student.”
  5. Provide an official copy of your college acceptance letter, if you are entering your first year.
  6. Provide two (2) 2026 letters of recommendation from non-family members.

Marsha Eileen Ward Sanders Memorial Scholarship Awarded by The Sanders Family & The Chancel Choir

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS – To be eligible for this scholarship you must:

  1. Be a loyal member of Ebenezer AME.
  2. Attend or begin attendance at a college or trade school by the Fall of 2025.
  3. Submit a minimum 300-word essay describing a time when you, like Mrs. Sanders, fearlessly faced adversity through faith in God and the lessons you learned in doing so.
  4. Provide an official copy of your college acceptance letter, if you are entering your first year.
  5. Provide an unofficial transcript of your grades.
  6. Provide a recent letter of recommendation from non-family members.
  7. Provide a short statement about you!

Shirley A. Myers Memorial Scholarship

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS – To be eligible for this scholarship you must:

  1. Have a Parent, Grandparent, or Great Grandparent that is a member of Ebenezer AME Church.
  2. Recipient must be a child, grandchild, or great grandchild of a 3rd Sunday Usher that served with Sis Myers.
  3. 2026 High School graduate or returning college student.
  4. Must be enrolled or plan to enroll in a Historically Black College or University (HBCU).
  5. Must write a 250 word minimum essay on “What it means to serve in the house of the Lord”

Rev. Dr. Charles H. Wesley Graduate Scholarship

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS – To be eligible for this scholarship you must:

  1. Be a recorded member of Ebenezer A.M.E. Church as of June 25, 2025
  2. Begin attendance for postgraduate studies by the Fall of 2026
  3. Complete and submit this application and a 500-word essay: “Name one major problem impacting the African American community and what could be done individually and/or collectively to resolve this issue?”
  4. Provide a copy of your unofficial/official undergraduate college transcript.

Rev. Donald Vails Memorial Scholarship

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS – To be eligible for this scholarship you must:

  1. Be a recorded member of Ebenezer A.M.E. Church as of June 25, 2024
  2. Begin attendance at a college or university school by the Fall of 2025
  3. Complete and submit this application and a 200-word essay on Rev. Donald Vails contributions to gospel music and his influence on church worship.
  4. Provide a copy of your official college acceptance letter.
  5. Provide two (2) 2024-2025 letters of recommendation from non-family members.

Rene G. Haley Initiative Scholarship

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS – To be eligible for this scholarship you must:

  1. Be a minority male or female between the ages of 16 and 24.
  2. Be a Washington DC, Southern Maryland, or Northern Virginia resident.
  3. Begin attendance in a college or university as an undergraduate by the Fall of 2026.
  4. Be a member of a sports team or in a sports program at the college or university.
  5. Submit a 200 to 300-word essay on the topic” The importance of sports as a tool for growth and community development.”
  6. Provide an official copy of your college acceptance letter if you are entering your first year.
  7. Provide two (2) 2026 letters of recommendation from non-family members.

 

Spouses in Transition

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS – To be eligible for this scholarship you must:

  1. A member of Ebenezer AME Church, Fort Washington, MD by May 6, 2025.
  2. Must be the child of a deceased parent(s). Parent(s) do not have to be a member(s) of Ebenezer AME Church
  3. Must be entering college/university/technical school from high school in the Fall of 2026 and/or a returning college student.
  1. Must pursue courses leading to an undergraduate degree or certification.
  2. Must meet the definition of young adult – a student no older than 23.
  3. A 300-word essay on one of the below topics:
  • What my deceased parent imparted in my life.
  • Life Lessons learned from my deceased parent.
  • I am a better person because . .

 

    Sydney-Chanele Dawkins Scholarship

    ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS – To be eligible for this scholarship you must:

    1. Be a female writer entering an accredited college for the 2024-2025 school year with a least a 3.0 GPA or
    2. Be a female writer presently in an undergraduate accredited college program with at least a 2.7 GPA,
    3. Submit two (2) letters of recommendation from instructors having taught said student and can evaluate her effort and passion.
    4. Be a female writer who lives in the Washington, DC, Maryland, Northern Virginia area or is attending Sherman Street Church of God in Anderson, Indiana (Sydney-Chanele’s Home Church).
    5. Submit a 500-word essay with the application. The title of the essay should be “In Ten Years My Writings…”
    6. Include proof of your enrollment in an accredited college.

    Marsha Sumner Memorial Scholarship Awarded by the Pew Ministry

    ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS – To be eligible for this scholarship you must:

    1. You or your family should be a member of a church in the Metropolitan Washington DC area, including Ebenezer AME Church, Fort Washington, MD.
    2. Be a minority between the ages of 16‐24 years old.
    3. Be a resident of Washington DC, Maryland or Virginia.
    4. Begin attendance, or are currently enrolled, in a college or trade school for the Fall 2026 semester.
    5. Be seeking a degree in one of the following areas:
    • Communication and media studies
    • Public relations, advertising, & applied communication
    • Radio, television, & digital communication
    • Journalism
    1. Have a G.P.A. of 2.50 or higher.
    2. Creative Arts Submission: Please select one submission format and one topic from the options below:
      1. Submission Format (Select one):
             i. Submit a written essay or creative writing piece (250–500 words)
               ii. Provide a video or audio response (2–3 minutes)
               iii. Develop a comic strip (including both narrative and illustrations)
        B. Topic Options (Select one):
               i. Who was Marsha Sumner, and what impact did she have on the broadcast community?
               ii. Which stories, messages, or issues do you most wish to communicate through your chosen field of study, and why?
               iii. Describe a media project, academic course, internship, or experience that has shaped your interest in communications or storytelling.
               iv. Do you believe Christianity is a help or a hindrance in addressing today’s world issues?
    3. Provide an official copy of your college acceptance letter, if you are entering your first year, or your unofficial college transcript if you are a returning student
    4. Provide two (2) current letters of recommendation from non‐family members; one letter must be from your current school.

    Golf Ministry Scholarship

    ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS – To be eligible for this scholarship you must:

    1. Be a member of a church in the Metropolitan Washington DC area.
    2. Produce documentation from an educational institution indicating a G.P.A of 2.50 or higher. A copy of the most recent report card would be accepted.
    3. Be a member of a high school Golf Team located in Prince Georges County Maryland.
    4. Have a letter of support from your High School Golf Coach.
    5. Submit a 250-word essay/creative writing on one of the following topics:
      • “The Responsibilities of a Christian and Good Student”
      • “The Effects of learning Golf Ethics and how it has impacted your lifestyle.”
    6. Provide evidence of being accepted in a college or university.

      Potters House Ministry Scholarship

      ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS – To be eligible for this scholarship you must:

      1. Be a current or former resident of Ebenezer AME Church’s Potters House Ministry’s Transitional Housing Program or an individual who has been served by Prince George’s County Community Crisis Services Inc.’s shelter programs.
      2. Be eligible to further your education in the Fall of 2026 at a college or university, technical /or vocational school.
      3. Submit an essay for up to 250 words on the following topic: How will this scholarship help you achieve career goals,; and financial independence?
      4. Submit an official Letter of Acceptance or proof of your enrollment for the Fall 2026 semester.

      Sis. Allicia McCutheon-Mason Memorial Scholarship

      ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS – To be eligible for this scholarship you must:

      1. Be a recorded member of Ebenezer A.M.E. Church as of June 25, 2025.
      2. Be eligible to further your education in the Fall of 2026 at an accredited College or University as a new and/or returning undergraduate student.
      3. Submit one 250-word essay on the following topic:
      • How has your leadership and community service contributed to making a positive difference in your school, church, and/or your community?
      1. Submit an official Letter of Acceptance or proof of your enrollment for the Fall 2026 semester at an accredited College and/or University as an undergraduate student.
      2. Be a Prince George’s County Maryland Resident.
      3. African American, Female.
      4. Have a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.8.
      5. Pursuing a Degree in Business Administration, Entrepreneurship, and/or Social Work.
      6. Two Letters of Recommendations (one from a teacher/professor/instructor or school administrator and one from a representative from your church and/or a community activist).

      Usher Board Scholarship

      ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS – To be eligible for this scholarship you must:

      1. Have served on the Usher Board of Ebenezer A.M.E. Church for at least two years.
      2. Be entering an accredited college for the 2026-2027 school year with at least a 3.0 GPA.
      1. Submit two (2) letters of recommendation from instructors or youth leaders.
      2. Submit a 500-word essay with the application. The title of the essay should be

      “Serving God With Excellence.” Include the following….

      1. What does serving God with excellence mean to you?
      2. Share how you’ve made an impact in your home, school, church and/or community.
      1. Include proof of your enrollment in an accredited college.

        Christian business network Ministry

        ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS – To be eligible for this scholarship you must:

        1. Be a recorded member of Ebenezer A.M.E. Church as of June 25, 2025.
        2. Have a total cumulative of 2.5 or better.
        3. Be eligible for graduation from an accredited high school or college in the Spring of 2026 and plan to further your education as a full-time student in the Fall of 2026 at an accredited College or University, pursuing a degree in Business Administration, Entrepreneurship, or related fields.
        1. Submit an official Letter of Acceptance or proof of your enrollment for the Fall of 2026 semester at a credited Undergraduate or Graduate Program.
        1. Provide one (1) letter of recommendation from a high school counselor.

          Gladys Mason Daniels Memorial Scholarship

          NEW UNDERGRADUATE SCHOLARSHIP

          ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS – To be eligible for this scholarship you must:

          1. Be a recorded member of Ebenezer A.M.E. Church.
          2. Submit an official Letter of Acceptance or proof of your enrollment for the Fall of 2026 semester at an accredited college/university or technical school as an undergraduate student.
          3. Must be a single parent who is the primary financial support for themselves and their dependent(s) (attach proof i.e., tax forms showing head of household or any other supporting documentation, please redact personal information such as social security number and etc.)
          4. Must reside in the state of Maryland, Virginia, or the District of Columbia metropolitan area.
          5. Often times, single parents lose their sense of “self” in the demands of caring for their child(ren). Submit a typed minimum 500-word essay on the following topic:

          “In what ways will the pursuit of higher education be an essential form of self-care and identity reclamation for you?” (Essay responses must be written without the use of artificial intelligence (AI) tools)

          1. Provide a copy of your unofficial/official undergraduate college transcript if you are a returning student.
          2. A recent letter of recommendation from a non-family member.
          3. Provide a short statement about yourself!

          Levitical Voices of Ebenezer choir – Donald Vails Scholarship

          ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS – To be eligible for this scholarship you must:

          1. Be a recorded member of Ebenezer A.M.E. Church as of June 25, 2025
          2. Begin attendance at a college or university school by the Fall of 2025
          3. Complete and submit this application and a 200-word essay on Rev. Donald Vails contributions to gospel music and his influence on church worship.
          4. Provide a copy of your official college acceptance letter.
          5. Provide two (2) 2025-2026 letters of recommendation from non-family members.

            Sis. Wendy Burnette Long Memorial Scholarship

            ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS – To be eligible for this scholarship you must:

            1. Be a recorded member of Ebenezer A.M.E. Church as of June 25, 2025.
            2. Be eligible to further your education in the Fall of 2026 at a Historically Black College and University (HBCU) as a new and/or returning undergraduate student.
            3. Submit one 250-word essay on the following topic:
            • How has your leadership and community service contributed to making a positive difference in your school, church, and/or your community?
            1. Submit an official Letter of Acceptance or proof of your enrollment for the Fall 2026 semester at a HBCU as an undergraduate student.
            2. Be an African American Male or Female Prince George’s County Maryland Resident.
            3. Have a minimum Grade Point Average (GPA) of 2.8.
            4. Pursuing a Degree in Music, Theater, Communication and/or Business Administration.
            5. Two Letters of Recommendations (one from a teacher/professor/instructor or school administrator and one from a representative from your church and/or a community activist).
