BLACK HISTORY MONTH: February is Black History Month. Throughout the month, we’ll highlight the achievements of African Americans. This month marks the 60th anniversary of the Greensboro Four Sit-in. On February 1, 1960, four students from North Carolina A&T University, Joseph McNeil, Ezell Blair Jr., David Richmond, and Franklin McClain, staged a non-violent sit-in protest at the local segregated Woolworth’s lunch counter in Greensboro, NC. This act led to a wider sit-in demonstration organized primarily by the Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC), and drew international attention to the civil rights movement.
