BLACK HISTORY MONTH: This is the last Sunday in Black History Month and here is our last fact for this month. On February 12, 1909, a diverse group of historians, activists and journalists – the likes of which included W.E.B. Du Bois, the first African-American to earn a doctorate, and Ida B. Wells, a journalism pioneer who dedicated her life to social justice – united to create the NAACP. Today, 110 years later, the NAACP is the nation’s foremost, largest and most widely recognized civil rights organization working toward empowerment and equality.
