MEN’S SEASON 2017: It’s Men’s Season 2017! Join us on Sat. Oct. 28th at 9 a.m. for an informative discussion of the movie “13th” Panelists include former U.S. District Judge Alexander Williams Jr., and our own Bro. Walter Ridley, former D.C. Director of Corrections and Rev. Akil Dickens.
Come out to participate in the 4th Annual Men’s Season Tailgate Cook-off Competition Sat., Nov. 4th at 12 p.m. Brothers are encouraged to show your culinary skills. Don’t forget to purchase your Tasting Ticket to taste and vote for your 1st, 2nd & 3rd favorite food. Judging begins at 1 p.m. Tasting Tickets can be purchased in the Narthex for only $10 per person.
Lastly, registration is now open for the 2017 Men’s Conference to be held Thurs., Nov. 2nd – Sat., Nov 4th. Cost is $50. Register in the Narthex after worship service and online on the church’s website.
DONATIONS: The Potter’s House, WR&RC, and Men’s Season are collecting new towels/wash cloths and “Anytime Bags” for our homeless brothers and sisters for Prince George’s County Veterans Stand Down and Homeless Resource Day Nov. 4th. Collection Boxes are located in the Narthex, Admin. area and the 2nd Floor entrance through Oct 31st. Items can also be dropped off at the Women’s Resource & Restoration Center between 5 pm and 7 pm. Desired Donations include towels and wash cloths and anytime bag items include tuna kit, bottled water, fruit cup and packaged snack.
NEW MEMBERS CLASS: The next new members’ class is Sat., Oct. 28th at 10 a.m. and will focus on Stewardship.
COMFORT/CAREGIVERS SUPPORT GROUP MINISTRY: All past, present, future caregivers, and supportive family and friends are invited to the Comfort/Caregivers Support Ministry’s 25th Anniversary Tea Sat., Oct. 28th at 1 p.m. The guest speaker will be Min. Steve Brown.
ALICE MARIE CHAPMAN MISSIONARY SOCIETY: On Sun., Oct. 29th, the Alice Marie Chapman Missionary Society is hosting a Bread for the World letter writing campaign asking Congressional representatives to prioritize and protect programs vital to hungry people worldwide. Visit the Missionaries table in the Narthex today to sign-up to assist.

BREAST CANCER AWARENESS: Its Breast Cancer Awareness Month…Breast Cancer Awareness Fact #3: Monthly self-breast examination is a way to check your breasts for changes, such as lumps or thickenings. You should look at and feel both breasts. If you notice anything unusual, tell your health care provider. In many cases, those changes aren’t cancer, but you need to see your health care provider to find out.
